This review is from: Star Wars - The Clone Wars Strange Allies (Paperback)
This is an excellent Clone Wars adventure comic. The style of the artwork of this 72-page comic-book is heavily influenced by the animated Clone Wars TV / DVD series. It is well-written with excellent characterisation, with even the Clone Troopers showing individual traits. We are told that the story involves characters from the novel series `The Clone Wars: Secret Missions', and some have also appeared in the comic book Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures: v. 9 (Star Wars). This particular story involves Padwan Nuru Kungurama and his Breakout Squad of Clone Troopers, as well as his friend Gizz, who are sent to guard a freighter carrying Droid brains for a spaceship factory that is under threat from pirates. It is all part of a cunning plan of Chancellor Palpatine, involving Count Duku and Savage Opress, and when that story is apparently finished, another mission presents itself that involves ferrying a party of orphans and their guardian between planets, which eventually links back to the beginning of the adventure.

As I said above, this is a well-written story, with excellent characterisation and a fast-moving story with a number of apparently unrelated plot-elements that all eventually tie neatly together.
