It took me a little while to get in to this book, but I am glad I stuck with it. I loved Genevieve's character and thought she was developed really well. I'm not too sure about the end though as I thought it was a bit cliched and been done before. Overall, I would say it is definitely worth a read and will pass a rainy afternoon nicely.

Everyone else likes her, but Genevieve has a dangerous, sinister side that she only reveals to Katy. She tells Katy, "I'm your worst nightmare".
Will Katy be able reveal Genevieve's secrets? Will Genevieve manage to destroy Katy's life?

Wow! I loved this book! I am extremely pleased I won this in a competition! First of all, the cover art is fantastic! It fits the story line beautifully. Secondly, and most importantly, the story is a fantastic suspense/thriller. I struggled with what to call it and decided on "spine chilling!". It is that and more! I was hooked from the first page!
Katy is a typical teen, but when Genevieve moves to town and decides to destroy Katy's life, Katy is completely bewildered; Katy has no idea what she may have done to warrant such behaviour from Genevieve. The menace that laces Genevieve's actions seems to permeate the air! The mystery and suspense kept me glued to the pages! I struggled to put it down, and when I had to, I was resentful for the intrusion! This is a well written story, with believable characters that seemed to leap off the page.
I have never read any of S.B. Hayes books before, but I will be keeping my eye out for more books written by this author.
I recommend you read this book if you love mystery/horror/suspense/thrillers.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Captivating Book!, 20 Aug 2012
This review is from: Poison Heart (Paperback)
I was lucky enough to win this book from a giveaway run by Bliss Magazine.

The dark and eerie cover really jumped out at me and I thought that the synopsis was intriguing so I was looking forward to reading it.

I was actually captured by the very first sentence:

"We were on the number fifty-seven bus when it happened - the moment that would change my life forever."

This just got my mind working overtime wondering what could possibly happen on a bus to change her life forever, obviously I had to know more and from then on it just got better, spookier and darker!

I loved Katy, she wasn't the most popular girl in school and she had a difficult home life but she was very likeable and I found that I could relate to her character in some ways (this is something that always makes a book more appealing to me). I was pretty unsure about Merlin and even after I had finished reading I don't think I ever truly felt comfortable about him. Luke on the other hand was a hugely likeable character who was a great friend to Katy and was the only male in this story who made me smile.

I had so many questions about the mysterious Genevieve and it wasn't until the very end that I actually felt like I understood her, the crucial information about her always seemed to be just out of reach.

I came up with a theory about half way through the book and there were times when I thought I had got it all wrong, eventually I realised that my theory was mainly correct but with a few little unexpected surprises. The truth coming out was tense and quite emotional to read but it fitted the atmosphere of the book perfectly.

I'm not sure if the author plans on taking this story any further, I just had the feeling at the end that there should be more to it, it felt unfinished in some ways.

A captivating and dark tale that was a pleasure to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping, entertaining, easy, light and so fun., 3 Jun 2012

I'm almost 19 and I found this book very easy going to read, incredibly fun and it really made me think. There are lots of interesting twists to this story, 16 year old girl falls in love with the 'perfect boy' for what she see's he is, not his reality, a strange girl comes out of nowhere with a disturbing past, strange behaviour.

Once you think you've figured it out it surprises you with another piece of the puzzle which is utterly shocking. This story really surprised me with how amazing it was. The romance in this novel isn't too heavy it's perfect and I recommend this to anyone of any age who is looking for a nice easy book to read they'll get some fun out of or to take on holiday. (be warned, once you start reading you won't be able to put it down!)
