Well worth reading if you enjoy books about the indie record label/shop scene, and NI punk and new wave in particular. Terry's book is a story of one mans resilience and determination to set up a shop and label despite the pressures going on around him. Inspirational!

5.0 out of 5 stars A unique book about Belfast and a man's passion for music, 31 July 2014

Terri Hooley manages to capture something in this book that's indefinable - music, of course, and amazing music, but also Belfast itself and a sense of his own character and his passion. His story's totally unique and you can only hugely admire him for following his dream despite set-backs and troubled times in Northern Ireland.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great story of the grandfather of Ulster punk, 26 Jun 2014

At a time when a band from Manchester couldn't get signed by the Londoncentric record companies what chance did the bands in (war torn) Belfast have of getting a bit of vinyl out? This is the story of how an old hippy embraced the punk scene, broke down the barriers & whilst the Pistols sang about anarchy, the Clash burned down London, Terri made sure the music wasn't lost whilst Belfast had a riot of it's own

5.0 out of 5 stars Here's to Belfast Music Scene, 12 Nov 2010
This review is from: Hooleygan: Music, Mayhem, Good Vibrations (Paperback)
This is one of the most inspiring books I have read in a long time. This man has lived one of the most interesting lives and what is so great, he has achieved fame and riches without having any money!! He just loves the music business and helping young, new bands make it without wanting any of the fame himself - what an interesting life he has had - so far!

This is a really good read for anyone interested in the music scene -funny inspiring and poignant. It is a real warts and all account of terri Hooley's quest to put Northern Ireland on the map musically during the troubles and beyond. You wont be disappointed!
The man is a legend!
