This review is from: Video coding: An introduction to standard codecs (Hardcover)
This is a book which comprehensively deals in all aspects of video coding, It is a must for a professional broadcast engineer brought up on analogue system and who now wants to update his/her skills to digital techniques.
After a brief history it deals with priciples of video compression and then proceeds to explain in some detail the H261, H263, MPEG-1,2,4 and ends with a brief decription of MPEG-7.
The author has a very good grasp of digital video though there is some maths but it does not get very heavy.
