This is a book that you won't want to read until these circumstances affect you - but when a friend or relative dies, you need something to help you through the maze of procedures that need to be gone through. This book is it. It provides simple information and advice during a difficult period. I found it invaluable. See also Wills and Probate in the same series.

This is an excellent publication that is both informative and very useful. Though slightly out of date the information it contains has not really altered a great deal. Mainly, the paperwork required have changed titles. ie: the doctors forms for cremation were B/C's and are now 4/5's, though in real terms the forms are pretty much the same. For current prices it is better to obtain these direct from the relevant department (crematorium / cemetery), or a local funeral director. This book covers most aspects of dealing with death that the majority of people will find useful. It handles the subjects related to dying in a sensitive but informative way and offers good advice, along with useful contacts. For anyone within the funeral business, this is a very handy book to have as a reference.

I have loaned this book to several bereaved people and they have all said this is the best possible book to have on hand after someone dies. If you ever need such a thing you will read it again and again. A really useful publication.

Had to use this within days of receiving the book. This version was a little out of date, especially on costings but otherwise provided essential information which helps with the what, when and why relating to the loss of a family member so as to get all the neccesary jobs done in the easiest way during a stressful time. Plenty of useful advice and contact information. Armed with this information was able to save money on funeral costs while still getting the best organisation to make the arrangements for the final stages. The book's recommendation to get extra certified copies of the death certificate made being the executor of the deceased estate more simple and faster (and again saving money long term). Recommend it.

I cant really argue - the book is as the title said. Its just that I wasn't expecting to get the 2000 version when I ordered it in 2013. It wasn't made clear in the description that it was so out of date. Still, my fault - it was cheaper than normal ... and I could have done some more research to find out why ......
