This review is from: Leeds Pals: History of the 15th (Service) Battalion (1st Leeds) the Prince of Wales' Own (West Yorkshire Regiment), 1914-18 (Paperback)
Let me be very clear. This book is without doubt the most definitive source of the Leeds Pals in the Great War. With the advent of the centenary next year of the start of that conflict the publishers should get ahead of the game and start publishing it again,.
Not just for the occasional "dip in" but for historians and students alike. I, like a lot of other people in the North of England, had relatives in these "pals" regiments.
It is just what I have been looking for and will be a work of reference for me.

Poignant memories of the regiment from my home town. Describes the horrors of the Somme in graphic detail and has many letters sent home by those killed. A difficult read but a necessary one as theses sacrifices should never be forgotten

Excellent work with many stories of the brave men who joined up together. This is one of the better pals books and really goes to town (or should I saw City) on the individuals story. I research medals and found it invaluable. Plenty of photographs from the City.
