4.0 out of 5 stars It all makes sense now, 15 July 2012
This review is from: The Plot Against the NHS (Paperback)
As an NHS GP I have been bewildered by the years of seemingly unrelated and nonsense like changes to the NHS. I now realise that there was a plan all along. I could never tell whether it was all a complete mess or whether there was a brilliant plan. I realise now that I only had the jigsaw pieces and could not make sense of them as I did not have the picture. This book gives you the picture - I get it now and it all makes sense. The Govt wants the NHS 'off its books' and the private sector want a slice of the action. Obvious really. You really do need to read this book. I was hoping that the last chapters might point us in the direction of how to fight back but I was disappointed. Its rather depressing really.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential reading for anyone interested in NHS and/or politics, 31 Aug 2013

This review is from: The Plot Against the NHS (Paperback)
I have been following - and raising objections and concerns - the systematic and largely successful attempts of the unelected Conservative government to change the NHS from a National Service to a National Insurance Scheme in spite of their continuous pledges to the electorate - before and after the last election and formation of the ConDem Coalition government - that they had no plans to reorganise a fully functional system yet again.
This book gives the background: essential reading for those struggling to understand the policies and factors behind the disregard for manifesto and other pledges - and possibly draw conclusions for future voting intentions.
Is anything - including manifesto pledges - sacred any more?

This is a short but devastating book which everyone in Britain should read. It gives detailed evidence of the dishonest way that governments of both main parties have set about privatising the NHS by stealth from Thatcher to the present. Most shocking are the Health ministers and advisers to ministers and Prime Ministers who have gone on to work as paid advisers to private healthcare firms. Blair's 'New Labour' government was as guilty here as the Coalition is today. The book reveals how deliberately misleading language like the "independent sector" has been used by Labour and Conservative ministers to hide their real meaning - private companies operating for profit.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Plot Against The NHS, 5 Aug 2013

This review is from: The Plot Against the NHS (Paperback)
This should be compulsory reading for everyone.
It is truly shocking how the NHS - paid for by taxes from everyone i.e. public money - has been stripped apart and handed over to private companies which exist purely to pursue profit. I cannot believe that services have been taken from the NHS and these services are now being operated by private companies and charging the NHS vast sums of money for them. Neither this government nor the previous one had a mandate from the people of this country - who have paid for the NHS - to privatise these services which eventually will lead to a health system similar to USA. It is appalling that this has been carried out without the full knowledge and agreement of the people in this country.
I would have liked to see this book available for the Kindle.

Essential reading for all those involved in the NHS and politics as well as for the British public as a whole.Once the NHS is privatized it will be too late, but very few people are fully aware of what is happening.
