4.0 out of 5 stars No new set of rules but learning how to say no
This book is for everyone who wrestles in saying no to everything that shouts 'me too'.
The good is the enemy of the best.
Buchanan helps to stop doing all the good at the cost of the best.
How? By telling you to stop, take one day off a week, and reflect on what was really worthwhile and reason for thanks.
Like Jesus telling Martha 'only one thing is...

3.0 out of 5 stars nothing new under the sun
There isn't really anything new in Mark's book. It is for the most part an enjoyable read. The Sabbath or Sunday as we would call it is for rest, but then he uses a get-out clause to say if you enjoy doing something then that is rest, so that is okay. He includes mowing your lawn, shopping. By the end of the book I really wasn't clear on what he was saying, other than if...

Like Jesus telling Martha 'only one thing is needed'. Now does Jesus tell you what that one thing is?
That's why I need to stop becoming a human doing and continue as a human being,
to stop work and learn to dream and appreciate leasure and holiday for a time of evaluating work, not escaping from it.
Stop to give thanks and worship: out of the slavery of Egypt into the liberty of worship.
The best is the 'liturgy' @ the end of every chapter: a practical excercise to make concrete everything that seemed
a little woolly.
This is a season of learning to stop and listen to God's heart: therefore it is a book for today, March 2014

In today's hectic society ... OK ... world ... it is helpful to find a quiet time for reflection. This book is an asset to anyone needing guidance in that area. I would recommend this to anyone ... young or old.

I wasn't wanting a list of what you can and can't do on a Sunday, but this book really doesn't give the clear guidance that when you have 6 days to do what needs to be done, why insist on treating the day of rest like the other six? Not a bad read, but don't expect a clear cut position.
