5.0 out of 5 stars Best romantic fantasy I've ever read
This book is an utter delight. From the 1st page, I was caught up in the fast paced story, smitten with the Hero, Gian, who is incredibly sexy, and liking Jenise, the heroine.I loved the way the reader is far more aware of Gian's desire for Jenise than she is herself-and my goodness, the love scenes are steamy.I also thought she skillfully brought us up to speed on...

3.0 out of 5 stars Hot but unengaging.
Essentially a virginal heroine romance set in outer space. However the heroine is so incredibly passive, both in the adventure and in the romance. The most risk she takes is at the start of the novel when she asks a complete stranger to give her one. After that she is just baggage the hero schleps from planet to planet. If Jenise and Gian had been really heroic they would...

5.0 out of 5 stars Dara Joy has another winner, 10 Dec 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Mine to Take (Leisure romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
I am a big fan of Ms joy's and have read both of her other books in the series, Knights of a Trillion stars and Rejar. I found them just as good as each other. I loved both her other hero's Lorgin and Rejar, now I can add Gian to my list...Wow... what a hero. The love scene between Gian and Jenise in the crystal room was truely inspired. As in her other two book this one was well written her characters had depth. I also found myself laughing out loud at some of their antics.
I am one reader who can hardly wait to grab hold of another one of this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally hooked..............brilliant story again, 24 Sep 2000

This review is from: Mine to Take (Leisure romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the 3rd. book in the Matrix of destiny series I have read and it is absolutely brilliant. Gian Ren and Jenise are 2 of the most passionate lovers you will meet. You'll love the part of Gian's incarnation, the sex in it is explosive, sizzling and very red hot. It is in part due to his feline characteristics, Gian justs makes you purrrr.
Once again Traed, Lorgin and Rejay, as well as the characters from the previous 2 books are in this one. It was fantastic to catch up with them all again. Yaniff is still getting up to his tricks again, and there is a wonderful surprise at the end of the book, but I won't spoil it by telling it to you. You will have to buy the book to find out what it is.
Finally, I found out last week from Dara's website that Traed's story is next in the series and that it is not the last. Dara say's at the end of this book that there is many more to come. Please Dara make it quick, we can't wait long for Traed's story. Well done.

5.0 out of 5 stars No matter what she writes Dara Joy is a PLEASURE TO READ!!!!, 29 Aug 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Mine to Take (Leisure romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
I started with Rejar,(Christmas present to myself, and it was the best one I got!). when I finished, I searched and searched for Knight of a Trillion Stars (like a junkie) and had to wait for the back order to come in (I consumed it,like a small box of chocolates)then started the search for Tonight or Never,(great historical, marvelously funny situations, but not my favorite). I finally got a hold of High Energy and WOW what a great book (loads of potential for follow up series, definately a contempory book). Finally... Mine to Take was released (I snapped it up in a heart beat, I'm ashamed to say I neglected all and considered everything an annoyance until I had completed it.) All I can say is Marvelous.Read them cover to cover then let them rest and go read them again you will pick up so much more in the subquent readings, so many nuances to behold. Will Yaniff,(what a naughty rogue) and Aunt Agatha make a "pair"? What is Krue & Suleila story?(what a concept to anchor the series.) and what about the other babes of Adeann and Lorgin (hint... hint). Everyone is dying to know Traed's story and Dariq's,knowing the other tales will be as intriguing and enchanting as the stories before. Bless you Dara Joy for sharing them with us. I hope you get the chance to read this! One question is that your pen name? What a concept, every time you open one of your books, you dare a joy!!! Keep on creating, you definately have something going!/jh

4.0 out of 5 stars Undeniably good - but we've seen Ms Joy's best., 28 May 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Mine to Take (Leisure romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
I absolutely *adored* Rejar, and Mine To Take was almost as wonderful - the heros and heroines are really well written and extremely likeable. I loved that the author also used the fantasy element to draw you in..The plots and subplots were pretty interesting. All in all, a very, very enjoyable read. But be warned - DO NOT go out and buy other Dara Joy books on the strength of this or 'Rejar'. I did so, and found it a total waste of time and money. I'm sure that Ritual of Proof is a decent read, but I'm loathe to spend the money to find out. Though if she ever gets around to writing Traed's story, I might just make an exception.;)

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best Summer Reads in ages!, 20 Jun 2000
This review is from: Mine to Take (Leisure romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
If you want your wildest dreams to come alive then this book is for you. The Familiar race is one of the most imagitive races to ever be created. I couldn't put this book down. I had to read it from cover to cover in one read as I wanted to find out what would happen. Characters you could relate to and feel for. This book is ideal for a lazy Summer's day by the pool.

5.0 out of 5 stars MORE! PLEASE!, 13 Aug 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Mine to Take (Leisure romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
After reading the whole Matrix of Destiny (I think that's what it's called) series, I have to say, I'm completely hooked. Dara has a grasp of the written word not easily found today, and the quality of the imagery in the story is fabulous. Her characters are lovable and yet always seem like someone you should know. Honestly, Rejar hooked me. And with the tantalizing little glimpses we have in Mine To Take of a continuation of his storyline leaves me wanting more and more! Please Dara, if you read any of these reviews, I beg you to hurry and give us Traed's & Dariq's story soon! Their public is waiting!

5.0 out of 5 stars DARA JOY IS WONDERFUL! BUY THIS BOOK!, 25 July 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Mine to Take (Leisure romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
I have been reading romance books for over 15 years now. I am very selective of what I read because of lack of time. I have just added Dara Joy to a short list of keeper shelf author's (along with Sandra Brown, Johanna Lindsey & Julie Garwood) . Her imagination is amazing. Her stories are very well thought out. There is a great deal of humor, romance and sensuality in her books. I've noticed that in recent years there has been a rash of new author's that are so called "sensualist", when in actuality all they write is glorified porn! I think it takes true talent to write tastefully and respectfully about the act of lovemaking. I have never been able to understand the idea that a person who lives their life with a certain code or standard is considered repressed? This story really moved me. The love expressed by Jenise and Gian Ren for each other was amazing. All of the "MATRIX" series books have been wonderful but this one has been my favorite! THIS IS A MUST READ!
P.S. Dara Joy if you read this, please keep up the great work and write Traed's story soon! I can hardly wait for it!
P.S.S. I'm also dying to know what happened to Dariq!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it just loved it, 1 Dec 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Mine to Take (Leisure romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
As with all Dara Joy's books this one is good to read over again and again which I am currently doing. I was a little disappointed that it wasn't Tread's story at first but as you read MINE TO TAKE you can see that she is laying some interesting ground work for Tread - Hmm a mystery llost love for example and will he or will he not become a Charl Knight - even Yaniff the wizard isn't too sure. Yaniff - what a wonderful sub charactor. In the first book he was the man at the counter in the junk shop. I didn't find him in Rejar I suspect that he was the driver, but in Mine to take the little alien that was Tread's guide that delighted in teasing Gian by sniffing him. Too cute. And what kind of story will she weave with the Familar that was left behind - Karpon and his mysterious companion - There are so many ways that this story can go that I can hardly wait to see what Dara Joy will do next. I hope that she will bring Tread back to the humor that was in Knight of a Trillion Stars - He is so somber that it would be a pure delight to see a woman with Adeana's sense of humor rattle his well hidden heart. I loved MINE TO TAKE the discriptions of the different worlds - the play between Jenise and Gian. Really a great series of books - Only one question WHEN IS THE NEXT ONE COMING OUT???????????? Soon I hope

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Purr-fect., 21 Nov 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Mine to Take (Leisure romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Once again Dara Joy has managed to draw her readers into a universe of magic, romance and science-fiction. The story of Gian Ren and Jenise stands on its own even if you haven't read Rejar's story. Please don't make us wait another year for the next book in the Matrix of Destiny series. Hopefully,it will be the Traed's story;the man deserves to be happy. Will Yaniff's connection to the family of Krue be expanded upon? And how about the differences among the female Familiars? I hope that there are many more books in the series to come. The Matrix of Destiny series is a must read for fans of romance,time-travel,and adventure. ****
