5.0 out of 5 stars Very useful
Excellent systematic expository treatment of the Psalter. Highly recommended following extended personal study of Psalms as a push to further, deeper meditation.

3.0 out of 5 stars The same issue as many other commentaries on the Psalms.
As with his other commentary on the Psalms Michael Wilcock faces the same problem again. This commentary is just too short for the subject matter it is dealing with! This problem is also my problem with the commentary. Much as I like other commentaries that Wilcock has written I find that when I come to the Psalms that there is just not enough depth for the subject...

5.0 out of 5 stars Helpful and Practical., 24 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A very helpful and practical exposition of the first 72 Psalms, not only individually but in relation to the development of the Psalter as a whole.
While different interpretations are looked at, the writer gives full weight to Biblical inspiration and authority in relating the Psalms to their historical/Biblical context, and then relates them to the lives of Christian believers today with practical applications.

As with his other commentary on the Psalms Michael Wilcock faces the same problem again. This commentary is just too short for the subject matter it is dealing with! This problem is also my problem with the commentary. Much as I like other commentaries that Wilcock has written I find that when I come to the Psalms that there is just not enough depth for the subject matter that is being dealt with. This is a common problem with the Psalms as any commentary that goes into the kind of detail I would like to see is inevitably going to end up being a very long. However, that is not to say there isn't some good stuff here that will get you going if you are preparing a Bible study or preaching on the subject. But you would properly do well to have to hand other commentaries, preferably those in several volumes as here you will find the kind of detail that you would need for preaching or Bible study preparation.
