4.0 out of 5 stars Space and sexuality, 6 Jan 2011
This review is from: Spiv and the Architect: Unruly Life in Postwar London (Paperback)
Great title though the spiv and the architect are minor characters. The focus is on homosexual, queer, `deviant' behaviour in the city; from street to bedsit. A fluid, readable and culturally wide-ranging account that sheds light on the spatial variety and sexuality of postwar London through film (Lavender Hill Mob), the art of Francis Bacon, court records and more. Fascinating.

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant fusion of cultural studies and history, 4 Sep 2013

This review is from: Spiv and the Architect: Unruly Life in Postwar London (Paperback)
For anyone interested in a new take on British society in the post-war era this is a must read. A brilliantly conceived, theoretically-sophisticated, beautifully written work, which all post-war historians should have on the shelves.
