4.0 out of 5 stars A Friend's Influence - A Dangerous Thing!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline as it was easy to follow and you could picture Peter Falk delivering each and every line. There was a lot of humour from Lt. Columbo although his famous line "just one more thing" I felt was a bit played out. He was also very courteous to everyone he met, which obviously isn't a bad thing.

2.0 out of 5 stars Another Poor Attempt to Capture the Spirit of Columbo
For those of you who have watched the Columbo show for many years, you will be sorely disappointed by this book, as well as the entire Columbo series. Here, all the subtlety is pushed to the front as the reader can barely go 5 pages without a reference to Mrs. Columbo. There is no panache...

I think this book would make a marvellous film as there was a lot of twists and was not complicated but in fact easy to visualise in your minds eye therefore making it very easy to follow.
I found this and the other William Harringtion "Columbo "novels which I have read very easy reading and highly enjoyable.

The brilliance of the old show was the subtlety in which Columbo got things done. Here, all the subtlety is pushed to the front as the reader can barely go 5 pages without a reference to Mrs. Columbo. There is no panache in which the murder is solved. No, hard-hitting Columbo. Just boring, diffuse, loose ends, that when they come together, you wish you would have sat down and watched on of the episodes that you've already seen 20 times.
