This review is from: Wicca for Life: The Way of the Craft - from Birth to Summerland (Paperback)
Buckland has produced an excellent resource for people who follow the wicca tradition, or for those who just wish to find out more about the tradition. I think at the moment, because of all the hype surrounding such books as "Harry Potter" or "The Lord of the Rings", there has been a surge of interest in what peolpe would class as 'magic' or 'witchcraft'. And to a certain extent, I have to agree that I was one of those people (however my interest started after reading a book about the journey of one female into the wicca tradition). Buckland's book is just what such people need; it demonstrates that wicca is not just some hocus-pocus done for fun or effect. "Wicca for Life" explains how you could bring up your family within the Wiccan tradition, explaining how it began and all of the rites, customs and beliefs etc.
No matter how much knowledge you have already about the tradition, Buckland's tone throughout this book is not patronising. This is a serious and intelligent book. Everything is included in this book; the subjects progress from Witchcraft initiation to witchcraft and birth, through to witchcraft and death. Buckland should be applauded for producing something I think every serious wiccan would do good to purchase. Highly recommended.
