5.0 out of 5 stars Origami: a 21st Century artform, 21 Sep 2013

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Folding Paper: The Infinite Possibilities of Origami (Hardcover)
Take a piece of paper, make a few deft folds - Magic!- a bird or a bunny. Origami is a transformational craft - adored by kids and magicians. Surprise! in the past 50 years origami itself has dramatically morphed from a craft into a unique artform with heavy-duty scientific credentials.

This exquisite book chronicles the history of origami and celebrates its coming of age.

The book is divided into two sections. First, there's a delightful illustrated history of origami by Meher McArthur, a museum curator and art eductor. The story of the development of origami is pretty amazing, with many you-could't-make-it-up moments. The second section is an illustrated essay by Dr Robert J. Lang, physicist and origami guru. Dr Lang's section discusses the interaction of art and science in relation to origami and its development. (Yes, origami can be designed using mathematical algorithms, but you don' have to be a geek to appreciate the amazing projects.)

This very giftable book is a fascinating and exciting appreciation of a craft both traditional and modern.

This review is from: Folding Paper: The Infinite Possibilities of Origami (Hardcover)
This is more of a inspiration type of book. It has some amazing examples in but like I say, its more of a 'source/reference' book.
