This review is from: On Escape (Cultural Memory in the Present) (Paperback)
A fascinating early work by one of the 20th centuries great thinkers. Here we can see the seeds of some of Levinas' later notions. Of particular interest is his phenomenology of nausea, especially since we can compare it to the same notion explored- as far as I know quite independently- by Sartre in his great novel of that name. Rolland's introduction gives us clear sign-posts for what to look out for in the text and explores it's relevance to later works. A must for Levinas scholars.
