This review is from: Bible, Gender, Sexuality: Reframing the Church's Debate on Same-Sex Relationships (Paperback)
This is a well written and accessible book that addresses head-on the contemporary issues in the Church and wider culture that will define this generation. In one concise book issues including gender equality, whether marriage is only legitimate when it is based around procreation, celibacy, and what it means to be in the image of God, before looking in detail at homosexuality in the Bible.
This book really breaks new ground in moving the conversation on and giving new starting points for further exploration and discussion.

4.0 out of 5 stars good book on marriage not just the implications for LGBT people, 26 Mar 2014
I decided to read this book after reading an interview by the author on a blog; I was not disappointed. Unlike a lot of books that try to rebut the "clobber" passages in the Bible regarding homosexual 'behaviour' this one takes a different and refreshing stance (and even addresses that point). It's main theme is Marriage or committed loving relationships and the Moral Logic of scripture that defines those relationships. The author only then gives the implications for Gay and Lesbian people. Only in the final chapters does he expand on those other passages in light of the ground work that he has laid down in the previous chapters.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is honestly engaged in this debate (rather than just wanting to throw stones) whatever side you are on.

For those who say they speak for all Christians, they don't. Not all Christians are anti gay or anti gay marriage. This book gives some good answers to questions that need to be answered if we are to accept LGBT people (married or single) into the fabric of the church.
