I love the idea behind this book. It contains a series of short (1 or 2 page) stories about real life events, followed by a series of comprehension and follow-on activities requiring maths skills. For each story, there are 3 levels of questions, suitable for different ability levels. In principle, this is a great way to combine literacy and numeracy, and to show real world applications of maths. Unfortunately the content is just too American, with almost every story containing US units of measure, sports terms, or economic concepts such as sales taxes. A British version would fill a gap in the market, but this book isn't really usable for British schoolkids.
