This is an adventure for all different types of roleplayers.

During gamenights, I enjoy the roleplay-part of an adventure the most where you try to talk your way out of a situation.

In my opinion 4th edition adventures are often reduced to a number of encounters and skill challenges (dice throwing). This adventure can be played in that way but many of the encounters come with plot-hooks that give the players the possibility to really shine, to really outwit the enemies. Adventures where there's more to it than dice-throwing can take more time to prepare but, in my opinion, that time is well spent.

The treasure to be found in undermountain is awesome as well. As a player I'd really be happy with some of the artifacts that can be found.

This adventure is a great step forward. I'm really looking forward to the next installment

Be aware that this isn't a pick up and play adventure. There is some work involved on the DM's part in setting up the finer points of each encounter. Having said that, the 1st level of undermountain is detailed in depth with over 70 rooms. Sadly no other dungeon levels are detailed.

You will need a copy of the Monster Vault: An Essential Dungeons & Dragons Kit or a DDI subscription to find the monsters it references.

There is plenty of room for adapting or customising the dungeon, and I think this will appeal to experienced dungeon masters.

This is a lovely, well constructed book, it has 3 stories inside that you can weave together or not use at all. I have to say as a new DM playing with new players it is a tad overwhelming i would definitely not choose this as a first adventure if your inexpirenced like myself but if you have the expirence definately pick this up as its a really fun, really large dungeon that has a surprise around every corner.

Not what I expected. It is all really low level stuff (1-3 mainly). Some things you can pinch for any level adventure, but some how I expected more. Nice artwork and that's about it.
