It is history, and as such it needs to be read by future generations, in the hope that such evil people are not allowed to rise to the power of that witnessed in Germany, bearing in mind that these monsters were a minority and in fact made their own people suffer.

1.0 out of 5 stars Well meaning but lacking any depth
Far too short to tell the proper story of the Nuremberg trials.
The information is not as extensive as I would like.

There are far better books on this subject. The author seems to be uncertain as to what he seeks to achieve by his efforts. The book appears to be a random collection of anecdotal information culled from various sources and simply dumped on the page. It really lacks any sense of direction or reaches a conclusion. Much of the detailed is rehashed material from other sources. As an introduction to this subject, it is barely passable but if you just want to skim the surface, it may serve a purpose. Not for the serious student.

1.0 out of 5 stars The Nuremberg Trials -Paul Roland, 5 Feb 2013

This review is from: The Nuremberg Trials (Paperback)
Disappointing. No more than a very lightweight introduction. Easy reading but superficial, and underplays the involvement of the Allies other than the US. Perhaps OK for those who no nothing about the topic.

1.0 out of 5 stars No Better than a Wikipedia Entry, 19 Jan 2013

A disappointing book about a subject which could have been fascinating. There's plenty of evidence that the writer's views have been shaped by the writers of earlier and better accounts, and little genuine insight.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dear me... just no, 24 May 2013

If you like your factual history heavily inter-laced with the authors own emotive moralising of a type often found in Red Banner news papers or perchance 3rd rate historical (or is that hysterical) romantic novels, then this is definitely the book for you...

What an appalling piece of twaddle. The Allies 'Good' and the Germans 'Bad' apparently... life is never that simple people, but if you think it is then again, this is the book for you....

I thank my lucky stars I wasted less than a 1 on the Kindle version; at least I didn't have to burn the book (sic), I could just delete it

It is history, and as such it needs to be read by future generations, in the hope that such evil people are not allowed to rise to the power of that witnessed in Germany, bearing in mind that these monsters were a minority and in fact made their own people suffer.
As a read it showed the bullies/monsters were in fact very weak people, it also made one aware that the majority of German people were against the regime.
Well written factual account of what transpired and added that others who committed crimes received their punishment. May those who died in the camps names live for evermore.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great book from Paul Roland, 15 July 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Nuremberg Trials (Paperback)
This like all of Paul Rolands books is very hard to put down once you start to read it, the book is straight to the point and gives you a brief background of Nazi Germany and the horrors commited in the concentration camps. He gives good straight to thepoint info on the accused war criminals before going on to tell you of the trials themselves. Doesnt bore you with minute details unlike other war books just gives the facts in plain English!

Very good book and one of many by this author

This is a concise and well-judged exposition of the Nuremberg Trials. It covers the main thrusts of the arguments for and against the trials at the time. It also gives one a flavour of the courtroom drama that prevailed and the key players. It is a "must" for anyone looking for a short-hand account of this important event in World legal history.

4.0 out of 5 stars A factual account of those involved, 10 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I enjoyed (although enjoyed may not be an appropriate term) reading about the personalities of those who stood trial, however, politics dictated that not all of them were killed, and they should have been. I would love to know what happened to all those that the American's squirrelled away for research knowledge????
