5.0 out of 5 stars The Amazing Spider-Boy, 25 Mar 2013

(TOP 100 REVIEWER)
This volume reprints Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #1-5, and Ultimate Comics Fallout #4. This is the latest Ultimate universe series to feature a Spider-person, and is an excellent read, seamlessly fitting in to the Ultimate universe, and even retrofitting itself into the Death of Spider-Man storyline. Schoolboy Miles Morales gets bitten by a genetically-engineered spider that co-incidentally escaped from a Norman Osborn facility while Osborn is having a tantrum (before the events of the Death of Spider-Man). He goes through the usual phases of fear, denial, rescuing people from certain death, and finally witnessing the death (or at least the funeral) of a hero before accepting his destiny and putting on a Halloween Spider-Man costume ("That is in terrible taste") to take up the mantle of Peter Parker, before being zapped by a Spider-Woman and waking up in the Triskelion:
S-M: "I didn't do anything!"
Fury: "What did he do?"
S-W: Hello? Look at him!"
Fury: "Not exactly a federal offence."
Stark: "His blood work is back. This kid's the real deal."
S-W: "What does that mean?"
Hawkeye: "Another one?"
S-W; "How can this be?"
Hawkeye: "Did you try asking him?"
S-W: "Yes!"
Hawkeye: "Before or after you hit him?"
S-W: "Well..."
Fury: "Everybody out."
Then we have the "with great power" discussion, and then Electro escapes from holding. Guess who beats him after three Ultimates fail? And then gets sent home with a new costume...

And so it begins.

Then, in Ultimate Comics Fallout #4, Reed Richards escapes from the Negative Zone, and Valerie Cooper has lunch with a reporter who has just discovered that a US Government experiment created mutants.

And so other stuff begins.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic rebirth of Spidey by Bendis, 20 May 2012
This review is from: Ultimate Comics Spider-Man By Brian Michael Bendis Vol. 1 (Hardcover)
Bendis took Spider,an in ultimate spiderman years ago and breathed fresh life into a tired character. He took a cliched and overused Spidey and made home current and relevant, then killed him off. Now, we're presented with an all new Spiderman in the form of a very young Miles Morales.

impossibly Bendis has pulled off the same trick twice. We're given a bang up to date, all new Spidey, with all the proper problems and insecurities that made the original Spidey so appealing. Go but this, you'll love it.

4.0 out of 5 stars This new spiderman is off on a good start., 21 Feb 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Ultimate Comics Spider-Man By Brian Michael Bendis Vol. 1 (Hardcover)
As i first heard about a new spider-man from a different ethnicity, i was intrigued about this development as i dreamt of spider-man being a different ethnicity. When i first read this, i found myself be impressed with this new spider-man as he is a different character with a different point of view in life which has yet to be explored and i also liked his powers, as he has similar but different powers that the original lacked and i find them to be pretty cool. However, i felt that Peter Parker the original spider-man did not have to die just to introduce a new character and i did not like that fact that he is at a young age. Other than that, i give this a highly recommended buy or read.
