5.0 out of 5 stars Back in Black...Back in Business..., 10 Feb 2009
This review is from: Spider-Man: Back In Black HC (Oversized) (Hardcover)
Following from the event that was the Civil War, Spider Man is forced to make important decisions that will, in the end, change not only his story, but his character forever. With no money to pay for the treatment Aunt May needs and the Trauma from being the Cause of her injury, Peter goes back to black. He does this to symbolise what he now stands for, and what he is prepared to do to help is Aunt.

The story for back in black is not only one of my favourite but one of the best I have ever read. Marvel really do their best to capture the fall of Spider Man, and show clearly the emotion he is feeling. This is pulled off magnificently. His acts of violence and brutality towards his attackers are made clear with some of the best illustrations in any Spider Man book. Within Back in Black are the most iconic images of Spider Man you are likely to see. One example is Spider Man in his new Black suit sitting atop of a church with rain falling and lightning striking.

Simply, this is a great addition to the continuing story of Spider Man since the Civil War and one you must own.

I loved the main story. Sometimes for me Spider-man can be a bit girly, soft even with all the romance and troubling decisions he has to make, always taking the high ground and afraid to get dirty. Until now.

Peter Parker is angry and it leaps out of the pages. It feels more grown up and even realistic because when he hits someone, with all his superhuman strength, instead of them falling over like usual, bones break and they scream out. A bit violent but this is that: dark, black. As a result the dilemas and charecters seem much deeper for it.

I liked the J.J.Jameson story too.
