4.0 out of 5 stars Not for the advanced!, 11 Oct 2002
By
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Red Hat Linux 7.2 Bible (Paperback)
This book is an excellent source of information for step-by-step configuration of Linux. It guides you through the exact configuration process, from start to finish, of most of the major areas and items of a Linux distribution.
What it DOESN'T do is assist you in your configuration, or where it does, the configuration parameters given aren't in enough detail.
For instance, if you're worried about installing Linux to dual-boot with a Windows 2000 installation, all it tells you is to do 'custom' and to make a new partition for your linux operating system -- nothing about the potential destruction of the Windows 2000 boot loader.
It's definitely an excellent book for beginners and home users, but not so perhaps for system administrators.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book to have., 12 Feb 2002
This review is from: Red Hat Linux 7.2 Bible (Paperback)
This book provides the latest software and a great explanation of how to use Red Hat. It is written with beginners in mind, but also tries to point out the new changes to the more experience users.
