5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect puds for winter evenings, 20 Mar 2014
This review is from: Wintersweet (Hardcover)
This is a beautiful, big book full of mouthwatering recipes using the best of winter's ingredients. Chapters on classics such as apples and pears are followed by more exotic fare such as persimmons and pomegranates. With the cold weather drawing in, I can't wait to work my way through so many delicious desserts. I think I'll start with the amazing chocolate pomegranate meringue on the cover.
There are a lot of baking books on the market but if you're looking for something new and exciting to bake this winter, this is definitely the book for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Seasonally oriented, creative, sophisticated desserts, 10 Jan 2014

This review is from: Wintersweet (Hardcover)
It can be really easy to lose contact with the seasons here in London. With the exception of the changing times of the sunset and the coldness of the precipitation, there aren't a lot of indicators of the weather - I like to think of London as an earlier incarnation of Coruscant, the city which took over a planet.

But for most people, they're making a real effort to eat increasingly seasonal produce. Tammy Donroe Inman's Wintersweet is focused on winter desserts - especially those based on seasonal produce. It's an incredibly elegant book. Not only is it a beautifully bound hardback, but it contains quite a bit of advanced recipes, which would absolutely be worthy of impressing people at a dinner party. The book is divided into several chapters, with focuses on such season foods as winter fruit and nuts and chocolate. The book is a great idea for anyone who feels like improving their baking skills, coming up with new combinations and utilising new wintery ideas.
