4.0 out of 5 stars A sensible and thorough approach to this developing subject, 18 Oct 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Managing Knowledge: An Essential Reader (Published in association with The Open University) (Paperback)
Some argue that we have been managing our knowledge for years, and that the current business interest in the subject is simply another fad that will pass the way of the other buzz phrases. This collection of articles and chapters from a wide range of sources (with writers from the US, the UK and Japan amongst others) presents compelling evidence that the subject is here to stay - indeed it has been incorporated into an MBA programme - not that that guarantees much. If watching Superman could convince you that a man could fly, reading this book may convince you that managing knowledge (the editors prefer the more active description than the implicitly passive knowledge management) is a real subject. Certainly it is a thought provoking read and provides a basis for sorting the thought and practice from the hype.
