What? No fancy or amusing review title? No, this is just a relatively simple review for the Prima Publishing of the Tomb Raider I & II Strategy Guides...at least I think it will be simple anyway.
The guide for Tomb Raider is 64 pages long, covering the steps necessary to help Lara Croft find three Scion pieces located in numerous tombs around the world. Each page is nicely presented with vibrantly coloured pages and page boarders; the pictures of the levels look clean, clear, and are of generally good quality; while the text for each picture provides detailed instructions of what you have to do at any given point in the game. Nice.
Then we turn the book upside down (trust me on this one!) for Tomb Raider II, Lara's oriental hunt for the dagger of Xian. Same as before really, except the guide is a little bit longer at 80 pages. Both guides also explain where to find all the games' secrets, which is ideal for anyone looking for total completion of these adventures, with those segments marked with "secret" tags on the pictures. Filling up additional page space are pictures of Ms.Croft from her PSone days. It's all retro polygonal designs, and yet...it's make-for-heavy-blood-flow-in-a-man's-genitals sexy.
There are drawbacks to these guides, though. While the in-level pictures are of good quality, they are a little small in size and at times it's difficult to determine whereabouts in the level exactly the pictures are from. Also there are many YouTube walkthrough videos that will be far more helpful to you in several departments, such as where and when exactly to jump from one platform to another. Nonetheless this 2-in-1 strategy guide is an interesting read and one to advise getting for the diehard Tomb Raider fanatics.
