I am a die hard Anita fan. The reviews were so bad that I almost didn't buy the the book. Thank goodness I did. It was GOOD. What are you guys talking about? I still find the 'Anita gaining more powers' plot very implausible, but other than that, and the lengthy psychoanalysis every time she has to feed the ardeur, Ii loved the rest. The action was good, the relationship with Edward, Olaf and police colleagues is developed, and our baddie is still in the picture. I would have liked to see more of Jean Claude. He should be more than the adjunct he has been made, and the vampire politics deserves more than a mention. Great book. Time for a slower second reading now.

I have read all the books in the Anita Blake series (1 to 20) twice and Love Laurell k's imagination and creativity within this series.

I think this book was a wonderful addition to the series, and the twist at the end with Olaf is great because it sets up a reason for Olaf to visit Anita in another book.

I do however think this book lacked the danger/action that drew me to the series and towards the end it felt very rushed.

I do expect the next book to be more action packed with more danger and twists.

Thanks for reading!

I've been addicted to the Anita Blake series since I first read Guilty Pleasures in January and have since then bought and read every book with Hit List as the (for now) finale and I just loved it.

Favorite thing in this book. . . Edward is in it!!! I have loved the character of Edward since we first met him and now he's in this story as a major player. The whole tiger-story was fun, another tiger for Anita's harem, but my favorite parts were about the relationship between Anita and Edward. Through the years their bond has grown, changed and become stronger and I love their conversations and Edward's open concern in this book.

Least favorite thing was the whole Marmee Noir story. She's been built up as the ultimate villain and the way that she ended/died was a bit of a letdown for me, but hey maybe that's just me.

Anyway if you're an Edward fan, I think you'll love it. If not, it's a great read and addition to the series, with enough hints for the next book. Peter's first hunt maybe??? Or so I hope, cause that means more Edward. ;)

I love this book. It is more like Laurell's earlier books with murder and intrigue but the sex scenes were sadly lacking but I still enjoyed it very much!! I won't say it was the best of her books but it is definitely worth a read. I am re-reading it currently as with all Laurell's books I tend to speed read them and often finish in one night so I re-read them three to four times in quick succession so I have the whole story in my mind. Anyone who likes Vampires, Wereanimals, Murder/crime scenes and sexual intrigue - these books are for you!!

I did have this book on order in paperback, but i know that her books series is/are so good. I decided to cancel the paperback order and go with the hard back copy and get it 5 months earlier. I couldn't wait............ glad i did get it earlier. As always Laurell's books are a very good read. I wont give any of the story line away as it would spoil the read............
