A must read book. Combines the global view with the individual tragedies and personal stories that unfolded seventy odd years ago.

This was very good as it was pleasantly & well-explained so that you weren't frightened. One of the best books I've read on WW2.

Intelligent review of the war, just as expected. Very readable. I wish all history writers could express themselves so clearly!

It took me 6 months to read this as each chapter was just so much to both understand, fit together and process emotionally.
