I think that Dylan Thomas' poetry is very underestimated. He was not just a metaphysical poet but also a mystic. This volume contains all the volumes of poetry he wrote. The notes are very neat and helpful.

It's worth having all the work, and see the classics in context. The notes at the back are a goldmine.

We went to Wales for a holiday and my daughter fell in love with all the stories about Dylan Thomas so this was a must buy - delivery very fast.

The poems are well presented, and there is a lengthy background note (at the back of the book) explaining the meanings and background to most of the poems. This was very useful.
It is just a shame that there was no room for Under Milk Wood.

The Collected Poems 1934-1953 includes the five previously published volumes of Thomas's work: 18 Poems, Twenty five Poems, The Map of Love, Deaths and Entrances and In Country Sleep.
The greatest Welsh bard of the 20th century, who's genius was largely set down in his teenage years, is herein contained. So dear reader, hold hard these ancient minutes, and treat yourself to Dylan's visions, framed in Celtic pentameter, when only the moon rages.

Dylan Thomas is a superb poet. We read so much about his drinking that some people are put off. He was first and foremost a poet who deserves to be read and read till the spine drops off the book. Do not expect anything "easy" and so do not go gentle into that good night, but absorb, absorb.

An excellent collection. Really - the mind boggles at some of this stuff! Endlessly fascinating use of the English language. You simply have to read this for yourself.

Dylan's writing style will not be to everybody's liking as it is entirely unique and sometimes a little bizarre, but his poetry is clearly in a class of it's own and every lover of modern literature should have a copy of this in their collection!

I purchased this book from a car boot oddly enough and was surprised to see it there!.It is a book of true inspiration and has kept me entertained for hours on end. The man is an undoubted star and it is easy to see why he influenced such Legends as John Lennon and Bob Dylan(hes even changed his name from zimmerman!). A truly great read and well worth the price.
