5.0 out of 5 stars meeting needs to relieve stress
This is a great book looking at the causes and impact of stress from the very compelling Human Givens perspective, whilst also being part Nick Leeson's biography. In a nutshell, Human Givens looks at whether or not and how our innate human needs are met and how well we are able to use our innate human resources to meet our needs. The style of writing as if in a...

1.0 out of 5 stars Have Stress? Pay for Yoga Lessons, Not this Book
One can take stress tests in any women's magazine. Or online. Or at a local clinic. One does not need to pay for a book written by a man who brought down an entire bank, endanging the futures of all who worked there.

If you want to know what stress is, consider this: imagine the bank you work for is put out of business by one irresponsible person. You lose you...

The style of writing as if in a conversation sometimes feels laboured but otherwise well worth reading.

I borrowed with book from my local library after going through some bad times. The book covered an important but uninteresting subject in tandem with Nick's story. Logically handled and interesting too boot I would recommend this to anyone who needs more information on Stress management and a more realistic outlook on life.

5.0 out of 5 stars 10 Years on from Barings..., 28 Jun 2005
By A Customer
This review is from: Back from the Brink: Coping with Stress (Paperback)
This book has been written in the same easy-going style of Rogue Trader and I found myself working my way through it with easy, even stopping to complete the self help stress tests! And I'm pleased to say that I don't have anything to worry about.
In between the stress analysis and the interviews with psychologist Ivan Tyrell the book is basically an autobiography that picks up where Rogue Trader left off when Nick Leeson was sentenced to 6 years in a Sinaporean Jail in November 1995.

You lose you job, your benefits, your pension. You worry about your future or how you are going to pay for your house, your children's education, your mother's old-age home, your retirement, or tomorrow's groceries.

That's stress. What Mr. Leeson experienced was a little God-given inconvenience to his lifestyle.

If Nick Leeson interests you, then Amazon sells lots of other books about him that you can read. Those are the authors that deserve your money.
