When I say that this book is completely and utterly ridiculous, you will probably wonder why I have given it four stars and my answer would be that it is also thoroughly entertaining. So what if the characters are one dimentional and the plot far fetched, sometimes all I want to do is escape for a few hours with a real page turner. The chapters are all short and usually end on a cliff hanger which of course has you on edge waiting to find out what happens next. I have to say that I did guess the identity of the murderer, but this didn't spoil it for me at all. I have already ordered another of Alex scarrow's books and am looking forward to curling up on the couch with it very soon. Switch off and enjoy.

Well thought out, could not put this book down. You would think you were there in the mountains among the snow and the fear.
I would highly recommend this book

I bought this after reading his earlier book "Last Light". It's not as addictive as Last Light but does keep you interested all the way through.

Wonderful! A rip roaring tale, spread over 2 generations, I loved this. Different to Scarrows other books but no less worth reading!

A rather tedious, long-winded book, with a completely over the top modern section. Characters who were impossible to warm to (especially the up to date ones), with no-one you hadn't already come across in plenty of other books. Why is there almost always a mad preacher????
Not one to recommend/read again. Instantly forgettable & deserves no stars, if only Amazon would permit it.

This is the first book I've read by the author and I can't wait to read more. This story is vivid and exceptionally well written. Such an adventurous and thrilling read, you will be glued to this book.

My favourite Alex Scarrow book, and a book that deserves much praise. From modern day to the year 1856 and the mystery of the disappearance of the 130 strong Preston group. Well written and very creepy, its a winner.

I haven`t quite finished reading the book yet, however, my interest has been kept alive throughout and I cannot wait to see what happens in the end.
