A nifty little book, this is a succinct and humorous summing up of the year. Matt is one of the best daily cartoonists we have, and here you get the best of the year without having to wade through the heavy news first. The cartoons are divided into subjects; the countryside, elections, the health service, the US elections, the fuel crisis and so on, and reading it you find yourself going "Oh yeah, I remember that happening," and then laughing. Which I guess is the main point. Although topical these are jokes that won't necessarily date and it's not just a trivial little throw-away book. Give it as a gift or keep it for yourself.
