Although this is a very good book there is better .Do not buy this book new as it is priced around £50 and it is not worth that amount of money by a long way.
I only paid 1 pence for it in good used condition. The text is ok but there are not enough photo's of different fish.If you are new to fish keeping or simply want to find more species of fish then i would suggest "The Interpet Bumper Guide To Tropical Aquarium Fishes" it is better priced new and there are lots of used copies about and there are a lot more photo's and information on different fish. The text is also very informative.

THIS IS AN ABSOLUTLY FANTASTIC BOOK,WISH I GOT IT YEARS AGO. IT HAS EVERTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW WHEN SELECTING FISH FOR A TANK. LETS YOU KNOW WHAT FISH GOES TOGETHER AND WHICH DO NOT. THIS WAY YOU DO NOT PUT THE WRONG TYPE OF FISH TOGETHER AND MAYBE LOOSE SOME OF THEM.

The book has many colored plates which was exactly what I was looking for. Information on genus of fish and natural habitats. Not for the aquarium but for marine info.

I originally purchased this book a few years ago when I got my first tropical tank at the age of 19. Following the easy to read steps in the book, I successfully set up and ran a tropical tank with australian rainbows, gourami's, clown loach and some live plants.

The book is an easy to read, written in a "easy to understand" down to earth way.

I would recommend this book if you are looking at going into the world of tropical fish keeping and for the price now...I've just got it for less than £3 ...bargain of the century!

This is a superb book if you are just starting out in tropical fish and a great book if you kept them for a while. The information is present for easy access with a good colour picture of every fish. The how to start chapter has everything you need in it. Anyone who knows that there are two strains of white cloud mountain minnow certainly knows his stuff. I've kept them for years and I didn't.

Great bargains are available on this book if you accept a second hand copy

Very informative book if a little dated now as doesn't have some of the most popular fish of 2014! Maybe it did 10-15 years ago. Purchased used for a penny so crazy price, definitely an excellent attention to my aquatic keeping library.

This book gives basic info on very common species, it has poor examples of fish in the pictures, fish in pics look washed out. I don't advise buying this book as there are many others that do a better job ,for less money.

Amazing illustrations, with great discriptions. A wieighty but small book which does exactly as it says in the title. Great read & a must for all freshwater tropical fish owners.
