4.0 out of 5 stars A little dissapointed, 14 Jun 2007

I am a Huge Tony Hand fan but I was a little dissapointed with this book. He is a witty man, but it doesn't come across anywhere in the book because he is also very good at keeping his thoughts to himself as well. Maybe he should have waited untill he had really retired and told us a little more. It is all about the hockey - don't expect much of an insight into his life off the ice unless it impacts on his hockey - which is no big surprise really. And it races over some of the tricky stuff he has had to deal with where I would have liked a little more of his point of view, which I, personally, think he could have done without offending anyone. But if you are a British Ice Hockey fan . . . then you have to read this book, don't you!

4.0 out of 5 stars One mans hockey, 19 Nov 2009
This review is from: Tony Hand: A Life in British Ice Hockey (Paperback)
Top Brit Tony Hand is the one man who should have a book out and here it is.Devotes his memories and thoughts to paper.A few spelling errors are little to worry about. It's lengthy enough to keep you going and one of few books like it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for any hockey fan, 27 Feb 2007
By
An excellent insight into the life of the UK's best hockey player, from 'rink-rat' kid through to current life as a player-coach. I found the section describing how Tony sees the plays develop on the ice particularly interesting. Recommended reading for any ice hockey fan.

4.0 out of 5 stars A UK Ice Hockey Legend, 15 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Tony Hand: A Life in British Ice Hockey (Paperback)
Tony Hand comes across as a genuinely nice guy.
For a Brit reaching the height of the NHL Draft is quite something - Tony's insights gives some valuable information on the state of Ice Hockey in the UK.

This is an easy enjoyable read.
If you have a passing interest in this great sport - this is for you!

As an ice hockey fan I found the book informative and interesting. I have seen him play several times recently, a hard game but his team - Manchester Phoenix were beaten by my home team Guildford Flames.
