This review is from: Napier Powered (Paperback)
Anyone with either a passing, or a detailed interest in the engineering products of D Napier & Sons Limited, primarily of Acton, London, will find this photographic record invaluable. From the early days of Napier cars, including a number of record breakers, leading to the superb range of aero engines developed after the First World War (also used in many record-breaking attempts), then the early gas turbines (turboprops) produced after the Second World War, and finally ending with the diesel engines produced for the 'Deltic' locomotive in 1955, and for high-speed patrol craft, this pictorial record both fulfils a 'coffee table' function AND a detailed record for the enthusiast such as myself. In short, a brilliant little book, and a tribute to a highly underrated British engineering company.
