4.0 out of 5 stars Best companion - but needs more of the good bits
If you want a guide to the West Wing TV series, this is definitely the one to buy. There is a detailed synopsis of all episodes from both Season 1 and 2, and the photos which accompany them really reflect the feelings you experience from the show.

2.0 out of 5 stars A dissapointment
A beautifully presented coffee table book. But its basically a summary of each episode from the first two series. It has a brief profile of each character with insights by the actors, but apart from that doesn't really tell you a great deal more than you would learn from watching the show. I was expecting more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best companion - but needs more of the good bits, 7 Mar. 2003
This review is from: The West Wing (Hardcover)
If you want a guide to the West Wing TV series, this is definitely the one to buy. There is a detailed synopsis of all episodes from both Season 1 and 2, and the photos which accompany them really reflect the feelings you experience from the show.
However, the highlights of the book are the character profiles and behind the scenes gossip! Each character has their own couple of pages, with a brief history of the character, and a great comment from Aaron Sorkin on his vision of the characters. Even better than these are the special features like "Creating The West Wing" and "A Tour of The West Wing". These are the sections that really make the book a worth while purchase.
More of these, and the book would have got the five stars!

4.0 out of 5 stars Detailed plots of the first two seasons, 18 Mar. 2003
This review is from: The West Wing (Hardcover)
This delightful coffee-table book contains detailed summaries of every episode of the first two seasons of The West Wing. The plots all move so fast that it's impossible to get every nuance that the writers and actors bring to each episode, but it does a creditable job of realising one of the best TV shows in print form.
Each of the main actors is put under the spotlight as well, along with some of the background crew - especially series creator Aaron Sorkin and Thomas Schlamme. Some of the comments do get slightly repetitive (just how many times can any one person say they love working with Alison Janney?) but the feeling of camaraderie between cast and crew is palpable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!, 12 July 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The West Wing (Hardcover)
I bought this book a couple of days ago, and have got to say that it's one of the best I've bought in a very long while. It includes a review of every episode from Seasons 1 & 2, along with exclusive interviews with many of the people who make the series what it is. Being a hardback, it book weighs a ton, but is worth every penny!

5.0 out of 5 stars A treasure., 16 Feb. 2015
For fans of the West Wing this is the original and best. Packed full of behind the scenes stories and insights into the process, from the incredible writing to the casting and how the actors prepare. Great pics and lots of script extracts. Wonderful to see them on the written page as well as reminded of how they were spoken. The best tv series ever made in my opinion.

3.0 out of 5 stars West Wing, 30 Dec. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The West Wing (Hardcover)
I'm a West Wing fanatic and enjoyed the book although woudl have liked more background to the stories and less script - I get the script when i watch the dvd. Would like to see a book that covers the whole series.

Great pictures, nice little entrys from the cast & although well written, there was still something lacking in what could have made a good book an excellent pick.
Maybe some more behind the scenes & information on each episode would have helped. In the end alright but I did expect more from The West Wing! even if its a book!
