Fat book with great illustrations by the beer master
on 17 December 2010
The book is a little wider than paperback and runs to 544 pages - a page per beer plus some useful information. Anyone who knows Dorling Kindersley's style will expect a beautifully illustrated clear style - and that's exactly what you get. This is not an encyclopedia nor is it comprehensive (1001 Beers You Must Try Before You Die has twice as many plus 1 ! - but is irritatingly organised by style). This book is simply the 500 favourite beers (in alphabetic order - thank you) of the man who knew an immense amount about beer and wrote beautifully and lovingly about it. The battle against bland mass-produced beer is making progress and this book is on the side of the angels. Best read with the book in one hand and a good beer in the other. I'm very glad I bought it.
