ideal for architects, first year students and those who want to learn the basics, in clear concise simple terms. However, does not contain sufficient depth to go beyond this.

This book could serve to give a very basic understanding of structures, but is not as useful to an engineer as other books of a similar physical size, for example the Structural Engineer's Pocket Handbook, which is available for a similar price.

The book explains basic structural forms and loads, as well as touching on some of the terminology used in relation to materials and so on; with this in mind it would probably be a useful purchase for a first year engineering or architecture student. It would not replace any notes that you might have, but has a lot of small bits of information in one place that could jog the memory.

Its a good book to check out if you've time to kill. I went through this fairly fast, read this in maybe a couple of hours.

Very interesting book, has helped me a lot with my architectural studies and in general reading as well. Would recommend.
