4.0 out of 5 stars Hoping there's more of the same to come in CF's Leopard series...
CF is an auto-buy, and I was impatiently waiting for this one, as she hasn't done a Leopard tale for some time. The book did not disappoint, and in some ways reminded me of Sherrilyn Kenyon's ACHERON, in the way that she laid it out i.e. part 1 - the beginning when we learn how Jake becomes the way he is and what he has endured, and part 2 - when he gets his HEA. Emma...

3.0 out of 5 stars Wow!!!
Having read Christine Feehan's fever, I just had to read this one. I loved it, not as much as Fever, but it was came in a close second. I loved the lay out of the book. The way you got a look into Jakes background, his childhood, etc. The chemistry between him and Emma was scorching. Actually, scorching is to mild a word. The book was on fire, especially the last half...

1.0 out of 5 stars Sexist Drivel!, 26 Feb 2010

Burning Wild (Leopard People)
Warning : If you like reading about women being dominated by emotionally scarred men, in short; domestic slavery, rape and abuse, then read this book. I enjoy supernatural books, but this one reads like a 1970's "bodice ripper" romance, don't read it if you enjoy a good story, 'cause after the sex starts there's not much of that. I can only assume Christine Feehan cut and pasted a lot of the chapters, as it all pretty much reads the same all the way through, if I had to read about "Jake's powerful arms" one more time, I would have hurled. I'm always a tad worried when I read a story like this, that the writer has a rather distorted view about what's sexy and what should just be published in a cheap porn magazine!!! I saw this book has a high star rating, so can only assume there are a lot of fans of this type of fiction and this writer. But, I live in 2010 and don't want to read this sort of sexist fiction. Emma, the female character in this book, is weak and pathetic. No self respecting woman would allow another individual to treat her in the way that's described in this book, unless they've got serious low self esteem. You've been warned!

4.0 out of 5 stars Tough but good, 1 Jun 2009

Well for the third leopard people instalment I wasnt sure what to expect It had been a while since I visited them. Burning Wild is how shall I put it... Not an easy book to read it starts out at quite a pace giving bakground info on Jake however it sort of jumps around a bit after that and Emma is such a perfect housewife and mother that you really find it hard to like her, as to the sex scenes well they were Different with a capital D they skate close to the wind. All in all I would reccommend this book to Feehan readers but for the uninitiated I would suggest reading the first two leopard books so you get more background info on the leopard people (especially the men!!)

3.0 out of 5 stars An improvement, 15 May 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Burning Wild: Number 3 in series (Leopard People) (Paperback)
When I first started reading Christine Feehams books, I had loved them, however, after a few of them, it became obvious to me that her standard of writing had declined dreadfully, some of the books were barely readable, some were quite bizarre. So, gradually I had stopped buying her books, and just borrowed them, hoping that there would be an improvement back to her earlier standard.
However, I brought this one because I had liked her previous leapard book. The story wasn't so bad, it was a vast improvement on her previous books. There were still parts that were totally bizarre and didn't add at all to the story - the part where the guy comes on the female - yes, totally bizarre, Christine explains it as the guy marking her, to me it was degrading, and added nothing to the story. The female was again a real goody goody and both of them weren't really very interesting. Can we also have females that aren't the best at everything they do?

Whilst it was okay, it still wasn't up to the standard of Nalini Singh and Kresley Cole.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cheating, abusive, man-wh*re anti-hero & heroin doormat!, 14 Jun 2013
This review is from: Burning Wild: Number 3 in series (Leopard People) (Paperback)
This is my first book by this author and I would give no star if I could!

I just cannot believe the 5 star rating!!!! for what???? for the hero who kept HIS MATE in his house for 2 years, whilst having sex with many many women even admitting to have 2 in one day, his mate was scenting a women's scene on him and he DID NOT DENIED HIS SEXUAL RELATIONSHIP WITH THEM!!!! WHAT IS THIS????? She has no respect to continue being with him after when he shared all the intimacies with all those women and they so him naked, he did all those intimate things to them for 2 years!!!! When eventually they have sex there was nothing special any more, because he already shared those intimate moments with all those women so it was the same act and I felt disgusted that he could come home after having sex with women and kissing his children good night and having the women scene all over him and demanding from his mate to submit to his sexual and controlling needs!!!!

Then when she went on a date, because he implied no man is interested in her, I was actually happy seeing the hero hurt and uncomfortable.he deserve it. He was then accusing her for dressing out not for him but for that other guy and going out with him, but she did nothing wrong because he was the one cheating so brutally and w-horin* every women possible and he should be ashamed and guilty and not her, he did not even admitted to her that their were mates and he was telling the other friends about his sexual encounters. What a disrespectful a** !!!! He was controlling her all the time and she just wanted to go out and was confused because he did not told her their were mates and was angry with her for going out with the guy!!! he was just using her all the time!!!!!
