4.0 out of 5 stars Were-Hunter Wren's Story!
Ms. Kenyon’s latest “Dark-Hunter” installment is a story about the Were-hunter Wren. Although this was not my favorite in this series…it was still an entertaining read that gives the reader a little more information regarding this part of the legends. We get too know a few more characters that have already been introduced to in previous...

3.0 out of 5 stars More like three and a half stars
Would give this book three and a half stars if that were possible. The storyline of this book is brilliant and I did like the characters, if only it was better written it would probably be one of the best stories I've ever read. Needs to be longer, a lot longer, characters need to be slightly better developed, I found Maggie's acceptance of what happens to her way to easy...

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't pull the Tigers Tail, 11 Jan 2006
This review is from: Unleash The Night (Dark-Hunter World) (Paperback)
While a vast improvement on Sins of the Night - Unleash the Night does not return us to the highs of Night Pleasures and Dance with the Devil. This time we are very firmly in the world of the Ware-Hunters (the half man/half animal, time travelling descendants of Apollo) and the story of Wren the Tigerian Katagaria (the Ware-Hunters where the animal half is dominant.) Wren is your usual Kenyon hero - tortured soul, abandoned and betrayed by those that should have loved/protected him, etc - and this is all very disturbing when you are a cross breed Tiger/Leopard (cross breeds are not accepted in their world) with magical powers far greater than the average Ware-Hunter, who freaks out the group of Bear Ware-Hunters who have to shelter you. Throw in an overwhelming attraction to the 'good girl' daughter of a Senitor, relatives that what your hide, literally, and dreadlocks that will not comb out, and you find yourself with a death sentence to survive. Some interesting insights into the world of the Ware-Hunters and what really is going on in Sanctuary, no Ash I'm afraid but we are introduced to the shaddowy Savitar and a cameo from an old, not quite dead friend from the earlier books. Overall good - however having seen the planned publication list from Kenyon perhaps less books but more writing time per book might be in order to return us to the heights if the early Dark Hunter books. If you want to know more of the Hunter world, Dark-Hunters, Ware-Hunters and Dream-Hunters try Kenyons fantastic website at [...]

5.0 out of 5 stars Who wouldn't love a tiger, 30 April 2006

This review is from: Unleash The Night (Dark-Hunter World) (Paperback)
I like all of Sherrilyn Kenyon's books but I particularily like the story of Maggie and Wren. They are both troubled souls, misunderstood by their peers and isolated.

This is a store of triumph over adversity, a love conquers all tale and although the end doesn't promisse happy ever afters it leaves a feeling of hope.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another excellent addition to the Dark Hunter series, 31 Aug 2006
I've read every book in the Dark Hunter series and this one does not fall short of the excellent standard that Sherrilyn Kenyon has set. Wren and Maggie are slightly different from the previous couples in that there is a definite air of teen-rebels-versus-the-world about them (even though neither are teenagers) but I actually found this quite refreshing. Also the fact that it is a were-hunter story helps - I am definintely of the faction that thinks the were-hunter books are better than the straight dark hunter books. There is more exposition about the whole underlying mythology and a cameo from Nick Gaultier.

Recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars FAB BOOK - HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT, 5 April 2006

I really enjoyed this book. Sherilyn Kenyon is a very gifted writer. I could feel the emotions of the characters in the book. I would encourage people to read other books in this series as I've enjoyed them all and await the next one in the series to be published.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just a little too far-fetched., 18 April 2007
This review is from: Unleash The Night (Dark-Hunter World) (Paperback)
Wren and Maggie. Lots of plot weirdness in this story. I mean, why, do the bears run the Sanctuary if they don't like what they do. No runaway (katagarian, arcadian or human) would stay in a place where they weren't welcome.

The mystery was excellent... and its solution; which I didn't understand but it involved time-travel and some very clever twists. However the mystery belongs entirely to Wren. There is no reason why the heroine would want to get involved. And I got the impression that unusually for a DH story the romance was rushed. It's all very well for Maggie to keep saying she's tired of being one of the rich elite of NO, but 2 chapters later she's a double murderess without having had the slightest conversation with anyone about the ethics of her actions. Just a little bit too much character jumping for this reader to cope with.

An enjoyable read nonetheless.
