4.0 out of 5 stars A true love stroy, 21 May 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Marry Me (Paperback)
This book is lovely, a real true love story.
The book is well written and funny, its about a girl desperate to find love. The only problem is the person she loves is her friends husband. It does sound like a mills and boon, but believe me it's realistic and portrays her as a kind loving person.
If you love romance, music and comedy its brilliant. The ending is lovely with her finding her true love. The story takes you through all her up's and down's, making you (the reader) feel close to her, as if it was yourself.
I loved this book and i will certainly read more by this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a surprise!, 20 Oct. 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Marry Me (Paperback)
The cover of this book put me off for a while, it didn't sound like my kind of thing at all, but a friend of mine insisted I give it a go and I gave in for a quiet life! I was really surprised, it was much more real and touching than I had expected, much more three dimensional. It's more of a book about a woman who is stuck in a rut and her passion for music than a woman hellbent on marriage (which it absolutely isn't!) In fact the writer's passion for music could rival Nick Hornby's! I leant this to my boyfriend, who is very like the record shop owner Ed, my favourite character. He loved it as much as I did (although would never admit it in public).
Now I am intrigued, I suspect this writer is one to keep an eye on!!!

The twelve month wait was definitely worth it as the promise of her first book last year has been confirmed here with Marry Me. Once again you’re swept up into an involving story written with humour and understanding of the subject. What woman won’t sympathise with Abby and her unrequited love as you remember back to your own school days and that unattainable cool guy you begged God to let notice you. As you read on you find yourself immersed into the world of Abby and her friends Ed, H, Rebecca and Vicky experiencing their highs and lows inside a richly woven story. Even the smaller characters are drawn with such bold colourful stokes you get to feel you know them much more than you would normally in this type of book.
A wonderfully satisfying way to spend your time and the next twelve months will seem to crawl until I can pre order my next Sarah book.
So if you take my humble advice just chase everyone else out of the house, punch the throw pillows into submission and get yourself into a relaxing position and be captured by an entertaining and well written book that will keep you having to read just one more page before you put it down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Warm, lively and fun, 20 May 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Marry Me (Paperback)
Don't be fooled by the title - this isn't another "woman wants a man" book. It's the warm, funny tale of Abby who gets a rude awakening when she discovers her friends are reaching new stages in their lives - even her widowed father seems to be moving on with his life - while she's still working in the record she worked in as a teenager. With so many fantastic characters and great comic moments, you won't want this story to end.
A bright, entertaining read that will give you pause for thought about the direction your life is going in.

5.0 out of 5 stars She’s done it again with another great and satisfying read., 12 May 2003

Well the twelve month wait has been well worth it as once again we’ve been given another funny and enjoyable read. This time you find yourself remembering back to those halcyon days of your school life and those feelings of unrequited love and the crush on the unattainable cool older guy who never notices you.
Once again the author’s quirky sense of humour and way of looking at life takes you on the journey with Abby and her friends Harriet, Ed, Vicky, Rebecca and of course the beloved Nathan. The twists and turns as she gets sucked into her friends relationships and has to fight her conscience as to what she should do compared to what she wants to do. The ups and downs that life throws at her until she finally finds her way
I can highly recommend this book. If you enjoy a well written book with great humour and understanding of the things life throws at you then you will love this one.
So if you take my advice you’ll send everyone else out the house pound the throw pillows into submission and get into a comfy position to spend a couple of hours getting lost in a wonderful book that will have you having to reading just one more page before you put it down.
I wait with great anticipation for the next offering from this author to see if she can again give us another gem and I’m sure you will too.

This time you find yourself remembering back to those halcyon days of your school life and those feelings of unrequited love and the crush on the unattainable cool older guy who never notices you. You find yourself commiserating with Abby as she finds herself in the nightmare situation of being at his wedding to one of her best friends!
Once again the author’s quirky sense of humour and way of looking at life takes you on the journey with Abby and her friends Harriet, Ed, Vicky, Rebecca and of course the beloved Nathan. We travel with Abby as she comes to terms with letting go of that vague and faint hope that she would be his one and begins to decide what she wants from life. The twists and turns as she gets sucked into her friends relationships and has to fight her conscience as to what she should do compared to what she wants to do. The many ups and downs that life throws at her until she finally finds her way and by the end has at last found what she’s been looking for in quite unexpected places.
I can highly recommend this book. If you enjoy a well written book with great humour and understanding of the things life throws at you then you will love this one.
