My children love this book. It is an accessible introduction to the concept of life cycles and to ideas about prey and predation. It allows for guesswork and involves repetition so we can all join in with the story. The beautiful illustrations support the text as new animals are introduced and the glossary could be a useful teaching tool.

It reads very well as a story, without any extra information disturbing the flow, making this great as a story book.
Beautifully illustrated and not too simplistic in its view of food chains. It includes what happens when an animal dies, the fact that plants use nutrients from decomposed animals as food, and illustrates that there may be different consumers of that same plant (in this case).
