Having just got back from Gozo I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It was superb! It is written in a way that makes you feel like the author is with you. The tours simply have to be followed, as they take you to areas you would not normally see. We had great fun, and there was always a watering hole exactly where the book said it would be, and usually with a great view.

A clear and up to date guide to Malta. Particularly useful is the list of top places to visit when under time constraints. Splits the island into regions and then lists attractions in each area. We tried several of the recommended restaurant which were all a success.

I've not used these guides before but bought a cheap second hand copy from Amazon.

There are reasonable maps of Malta and Gozo in the atlas section at the back and also plans of Valletta and Sliema. There is an interesting section on walks and tours with map and reasonable directions. These cover town walks as well as countryside. (Being loose leaf these can be torn out to put in a pocket on holiday.)

The main section is geared to telling you what to do and see in a set number of days, with a bit more information about the identified places. This approach works for some people but not for us as insufficient time seems to be allowed for the sightseeing and too much time allocated for coffee, lunch and wining and dining. I felt that coverage was thin, although their `don't miss places' at the start of each section are covered in detail with some good colour photographs. There is a certain amount of information about where to stay and eat.

The background pages in the Magazine section at the front are presented in a tricksy manner more geared to the youngsters than the oldies. I found this section irritating.

The jury is out on this one. It has some good points. Either get from the library or buy cheap.

Bought for a holiday, good size book, great info, loved the guides to places to see and the help with pronunciation. Is now on its way to Australia for family to see it.

This is the pocket guide book to take on your holiday,of course you'll read it before you go,get some sort of itinerary noted and then make final decisions on the spot. Gives pretty well all the info you will need to have a great time in Malta whatever your priorities.

Map was not detailed enough. Malta is a very difficult island to navigate until you find your way around. There are very few sign posts and no road numbers. We reverted to sat nav.

Really informative guidebook, maps included and the price was great too. I will be using these in future as they are much lighter to carry than many others
