A life saviour!! It really helped me understand how to better write a cv, a cover letter and most importantly how important attitude is when getting a job! And I got one with the help of this book!!!

This was recommended to me in preparation of an interview for a new job / promotion. Whilst not all of it was relevant to my situation (I work in healthcare and they would never ask some of the questions in the book), it was great for breaking down what the questions REALLY mean!
I'd fully recommend it! Good luck!

A good read.
A little repetitive at some points.
But excellent for giving background on the current job market trends which really lends perspective.
Was great for giving ideas on how to answer those dreaded interview questions like 'What are your weaknesses?'
Definitely prepares you for questions you could never think up on your own!

Self-help books, on the whole, suck. Any that have been recommended to me, I got through about two chapters and quit in disgust.

This is not such a book. I read it, and I moved from a bar job to being hired as a trainee lawyer in a "Top 10" UK law firm within six months. The book had a lot of impact in that move. Ten years later I am still, for my sins, a lawyer.

I gave my copy of the book to my brother. He got a job within two months, after not working for a long time. He is now a very successful manager in a chemical company of very many years standing.

Job interviews can be a bit like a tango. You might be perfect for your partner, but if you do not know the steps, or think it is a line dance, you will never find out. This book bridges those gaps, if you have a self-motivated and "willing to learn" bone in your body.

Thank you Martin John Yate. Been meaning to say thank you. I guess ten years' late is better than nothing!

Have used this book since I borrowed an earlier version back in 1994. It is excellent for both interviewee and interviewer. Certainly gets behind what questions really mean and what they are trying to uncover. It is a good investment.

I got this book for my wife, newly onto the employment market due to redundancy. It spells out in easy to remember terms how to prepare yourself for all interviews - including the dreaded telephone interview - and has put her in an excellent position to get the Personal Assistant job that she has always wanted. Highly recommended!

This book is a terrific help to anyone planning an interview. In particular anyone who has not done an interview in a long time would find it of value..The book takes a scientific approach as it takes the mystery out of the whole experience. I had purchased a copy of this some years ago and am convinced that it helped me secure my current position.
One warning with amazon as I had planned to send this copy to a family member in Belgium but they refused to send it and I understood the order was defunct until one of my friends on my amazon address options found it in their mailbox, they kindly offered to repost. Not sure why belgium is off the amazon mailing list, Be warnned if someone is waiting for this book abroad.

I have bought an earlier version of this book and was impressed. Having lost it, I purchased the up to date copy.

The book contains a lot of good content to help guide you through many commonly asked questions that can either force you into a deep thought of thinking or appear difficult to answer.

The book is very easy to read, as you do so, you can apply your own experiences in place of the examples. This book has generally helped work my mind better to competently answers others questions that are not listed in the book but, can be asked by simply applying many techniques also listed within the book.

Before i brought this book i was clueless and my application ended at the interviews. Then after following this book i knew exactly how to conduct myself, what to do and what to say. It also has a very good section on writing cv's and cover letters. In the job i have now i was actually asked one of the questions in the book and answered it fantastically well. The way i see it is, if you want that job then the £9.99 or even cheaper on amazon is a snip when you think what you can be earning in a more lucrative job.

A really good job hunting manual from CV writing to interviewing and negotiating a salary offer.

This book gives loads of great tips and gives you the cues to properly prepare for your interview. It will still take mental effort on your part to personalise the tips in this book but it gives you the tools to really optimise your preparation and get a great job.

Highly recommended.
