5.0 out of 5 stars DETECTIVES AND PSYCHOTHERAPISTS, 13 Jun 2011
This review is from: The Case of Emily V (Paperback)
This is a superb read; in fact I became so absorbed in the story that I genuinely forgot that Sherlock Holmes was a fictional character . The case of Emily V is a genuine case from the writings of Freud and the idea of linking the details of this case to an investigation by Holmes is a brilliant one.

Afficionados of crime fiction will be familiar with the notion that all detectives, certainly those from the 'Golden Age', bear some scrutiny of their deepest motives. Oatley does this superbly , especially in the meetings between the two main characters. I heartily reccommend this book to addicts of crime fiction and counsellors/psychotherapists alike.
