5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best reads ever., 13 Sept. 2013

This review is from: Growth and Destruction -continental Evolution at Subduction Zones: Course S339: Block 3 (Understanding the Continents) (Paperback)
This and the other three volumes are excellent. I f you are an academic in any field, you will find the accounts of academic rivalry, hatred and collaboration very recognisable. This is clearly a book that will be invaluable to those studying geology at any level. Inquisitive laymen (like myself) should also be interested. Little or no prior knowledge of earth sciences is needed but one might benefit from reading a good primer (such as the equally marvelous Geology for Dummies) first

It is expensive in hardback but not unneccesarily so.
