This is the first volume of a two volume set. It provides a good and reasonably comprehensive overview of psychology at the beginning of the 21st Century looking as it does at experimental methods within the context of different paradigms and different theoretical perspectives. There are various authors who contribute chapters on Evolutionary Psychology, Theories of Learning, including Behaviourism and Enculturation, the Biological Basis of Behaviour and Theories of Personality. It was written, primarily, for the Open University course, Exploring Psychology, but would serve as appropriate background reading for A Level students and certainly fit the bill for anyone else wanting to gain an insight into what psychology is and what psychologists do.
