Why bother ?
The characters are completely superficial, you don't get to know them at all... the two sleuths, who are supposed to be intelligent, start wimpering like a victorian maiden each time they meet a man.
The characters of Harriet Luke and Mary Sutton are in turn crying and screaming but you don't know why. The vicar obviously does not know what he is doing... as he can't bring himself to go and see one of his flock to offer condoleances and support (and me, thinking that was one of the purposes of choosing this kind of life !). His mother is a completely insensitive and stupid woman (calling the police... the pigs... what else ?).
So, give this one a wide berth...
By the way, does the phrase "she shook her head indecisively" seem correct..
And the references are also incorrect. As far as I know, Persephone was NEVER the goddess of agriculture...
So, forget this book, if you can call that a book
