This review is from: Coloured Lights (Paperback)
Leila Aboulela delivers and does not disappoint. Coloured Lights offers a revealing, endearing, candid and at times melancholically comical insight into the sensibilities of Sudanese people caught in between the home they long for and the contrasting country and culture in which they live. She also examines the emotional intricacies of young muslims of other nationalities who grew up in the UK in a remarkably genuine manner. The package is light, refreshingly different and contemplative. A must read for anyone interested in how people from other parts of the world think and more importantly, how they feel.
