I bought this book as a pocket reference to assist me in planning a photographic project capturing images of docklands. The book also provides an historical context. I was not dissapointed.

This is a guidebook, but contains no map to show the realtive locations of the various docks. The lack of a map is a glaring omission, since a map would give context to the descriptions.

Also, Wapping and St. Catherine's Dock is completely ignored. While only one part of the large docklands area, St. Catherine's Dock is the nearest part to the main tourist...

For anyone wanting to look at London's river both as it is now and how it developed this is a useful guide.Small enough to take in your pocket and giving enough information to enable the reader to map some interesting walks starting/ending at convenient Dockland Light Railway stations.
