5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent. My favourite of the series
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is definitely a pivotal point in the series. The first 3 books managed to get by on the novelty of Harry joining the wizarding world, coupled with the fact his life becomes under an ever increasing threat. This hasn't been exhausted, but isn't enough on its own to sustain a forth book or indeed the rest of the series. JK Rowling...

2.0 out of 5 stars A great plot but badly written!
The plot of the Triwizard Tournament is superb, ignoring the fact that Harry could have been portkeyed to Lord Voldemort at any time during Barty Crouch Junior's/Alastor 'Mad Eye' Moody's tenure as Dark Arts professor. It successfully widens the world of Harry Potter; to include the Quidditch World Cup, two other schools and house-elf rights, while the main characters...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Goblet of Fire will knock your socks off!, 16 Aug. 2000

This book is terrific and fun. I could not put it down. It is by far and away the best in the series. The length is not a challenge but a bonus. Read it!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad at all, 1 Aug. 2001
By A Customer
Harry Potter is (as I believe someone has already said) the equivalent of the Famous Five for the 21st century: a direct appeal not based on depth of writing. I finished _The Goblet of Fire_ with no impulse to turn to the start and begin reading all over again. But I enjoyed it as a one-off, though the usual sexist background and the nastiness towards the Dursleys was irritating. I don't like it in children's books where the author assumes that fat children are an acceptable target of bullying humour.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!, 23 May 2007
Of the first four books this is definately my favourite, I loved the first three, but they just seem to get better and better. Much more action and a faster pace. Overall a brilliant read that will keep Harry Potter fans with thier nose stuck in this book from start to finish!
